Parametric amplification with weak-link nonlinearity in superconducting microresonators

چکیده
Nonlinear kinetic inductance in a high Q superconducting coplanar waveguide microresonator can cause a bifurcation of the resonance curve. Near the critical pumping power and frequency for bifurcation, large parametric gain is observed for signals in the frequency band near resonance. We show experimental results on signal and intermodulation gain which are well described by a theory of the parametric amplification based on a Kerr nonlinearity. Phase dependent gain, or signal squeezing, is verified with a homodyne detection scheme. PACS numbers: 74.78.-w, 85.25.Am, 84.30.Le Submitted to: Phys. Scr.

Parametric resonance in tunable superconducting cavities
We develop a theory of parametric resonance in tunable superconducting cavities. The nonlinearity introduced by the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) attached to the cavity and damping due to connection of the cavity to a transmission line are taken into consideration. We study in detail the nonlinear classical dynamics of the cavity field below and above the parametric thresh...
متن کاملHigh-gain weakly nonlinear flux-modulated Josephson parametric amplifier using a SQUID array
We have developed and measured a high-gain quantum-limited microwave parametric amplifier based on a superconducting lumped LC resonator with the inductor L including an array of eight superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs). This amplifier is parametrically pumped by modulating the flux threading the SQUIDs at twice the resonator frequency. Around 5 GHz, a maximum gain of 31 dB, ...

We develop a semiclassical theory of the nondegenerate parametric amplification in a single miniband of superlattice. We present the formulas describing absorption and gain of signal and idler fields in superlattice and analyze the limiting cases of strong and weak dissipation. We show how the well-known Manley-Rowe relations arise in the tight-binding lattice in the weak dissipation limit. Our...

We demonstrate the parametric amplification and noise squeezing of nanomechanical motion utilizing dispersive coupling to a Cooper-pair box qubit. By modulating the qubit bias and resulting mechanical resonance shift, we achieve gain of 30 dB and noise squeezing of 4 dB. This qubit-mediated effect is 3000 times more effective than that resulting from the weak nonlinearity of capacitance to a ne...

We present experimental and numerical investigations of Kerr nonlinearity compensation in a 400-km standard single-mode fiber link with distributed Raman amplification with backward pumping. A dual-pump polarization-independent fiber-based optical parametric amplifier is used for mid-link spectral inversion of 5 × 28-GBd polarization-multiplexed 16-QAM signals.
